To makeup or not to makeup? That is the question by blogger Jasmine

How many times have you gone to the grocery store and seen women whose makeup looks completely flawless? What about YouTube beauty gurus (men and women)? They have an infinite amount of makeup tutorials, makeup hauls, and they always look like the epitome of perfection. If you’re not careful, you can fall into the trap of feeling as though you have to wear makeup 24/7 just to “keep up” with everyone else.

makeup

As a college student and an avid member of the Lazy Bum Committee, I say: forget that! Makeup should not have to be an obligation, no matter who you are. If your bae says, “Hm, I like you better with makeup,” then that’s all the reason you need to pack those bags and get moving! I’m also a YouTuber, and I sometimes feel myself getting sucked into the portal of having to wear makeup to look more physically appealing while talking to my camera, and it’s just not worth it to me sometimes. I even feel that pressure when I go to my classes or work. I see girls who always look nice with a face full of makeup, and I wonder, “If I wore makeup all the time, would I feel more confident?” I have to admit, sometimes I feel like I’m on top of the world when I wear makeup, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

one does not

My advice is to just be comfortable in your skin. Just be you. If makeup isn’t your thing, don’t force it. Don’t spend an hour putting on makeup if it feels like the worst chore in the world (i.e. having to clean the toilet, because let’s face it: it’s gross!). If makeup is your thing, OWN THAT! Slay those eyebrows and that eyeliner! Don’t let anyone bring you down (especially those dumb guys on Twitter who say “take your girl on a swim and make sure she doesn’t have on makeup”). So, to makeup or not to makeup? As long as you respect the girls (or guys) who do or don’t wear makeup, it doesn’t really matter as long as you feel on top of the world with whatever decision you make. Makeup doesn’t have to make or break you if you don’t let it.
