How do we create the perfect online dating profile?

The perfect online dating profile can be manufactured by referring to what we ourselves find most attractive in a prospective mates profile. That is, as you are crafting your profile keep in mind what would attract or repel you if you were in an objective third party person’s shoes. By putting yourself in the shoes of your prospective mate you not only elucidate which issues are most relevant and salient, but you are also narrowing the field of prospective mates to those whose personality traits are most congruent with your own.

What are some great ideas for a first date?

The purpose of a first date is to get to know the person, so first and foremost we need to discriminate carefully when it comes to dating situations that would curtail us getting to know our date (sitting silently watching a movie or comedy show)and/or would not put our date ate ease, or can be stress inducing (ice skating for a beginner). Instead of a movie or ice skating, both of which require concentration on something else other than our date, choose a date which facilitates the focus of the conversation on each other and put our date at ease. Some ideas which manifest this principal the best include dinner, going for a walk, or painting together.

Can women ask men out? Why or Why not?

Of course women can ask men out. We are a pluralistic society which embraces equality across the board, and because we live in such a progressive era there should be no strictures, spoken or unspoken, holding us back in the dating realm. If a women wants to ask a man out, ask that man out! It is only our own fear and insecurities about what other people think which hold us back In life. Don’t be that person who failed to capitalize on a great opportunity to get to know someone because of some nebulous, unspoken rule about gender roles.

How can you spot a player?

A player is usually overly effusive and “extra”, and can be spotted because of his over the top, hyperbolic nature. Anytime someone is “doing the most” we should immediately be weary. A genuine soul is usually direct. A player is usually equivocal and not easily pinned down. Why? Because he is a player, and a player doesn’t operate in a vacuum. A player only exists in the context of a game. If a player is playing a game, it is usually fairly evident by their actions.

How can we cope with heartbreak?

Time. Unfortunately, there is no panacea or immediate cure for heartbreak, but there are some strategies out there that can help in this temporally dependent healing process. A process takes time however, so it is fallacious thinking if we go in expecting one of these strategies to immediately remedy our heartbreak. With that little caveat, some helpful strategies include actively getting out of the House, resisting the urge to isolate ourselves, listening to empowering music, And surrounding ourselves with a network of positive friends. The primacy of what we put in our psyche cannot be overemphasized, and we should be very discriminate with what we let influence us during this tender time of heartache. Sad music, miserable people, and destructive habits will only breed more of the same, but empowering music, optimistic friends, and positive habits will slowly start to heal our broken psyche. Also, go laugh a little! See a funny movie or comedy show, even though they make horrible first dates, they are good soup for an aching soul!

What are great romantic date ideas?

Great romantic dates include anything that will evoke those warm, amorous feelings we all identify with when we are falling for someone. This is the time, later in the dating spectrum, when it is ok, and even advised, that you take your mate to a movie, or ice skating, or a comedy show. It is during times like this, when you are experiencing something independent of yourselves, but together, that you begin to feel those warm fuzzy feelings. However, before choosing the movie or comedy show, do a little research and make sure it is in deed something he or she will enjoy. There’s nothing less romantic than seeing a horrible and tacky movie together.

How do you handle cohabitation and splitting up household chores?

Again, given the fact that we live in a pluralistic society which is based on the equality of all, gender roles should not dictate our the operation of our relationships. Therefore, splitting chores down the middle is the only fair choice. However, if Sandy likes to dishes more than taking out the trash, and Jim likes Taking out the trash more than doing dishes, then be sure you assign chores based on what is easiest for each person. As for cohabitation, we should always live by, and Live together, within the framework of the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If keep this rule in mind, it will automatically ensure you are the best roommate possible to your mate.

How do you deal with betrayal?

Move on. Dwelling on past harms and grievances never made anyone more successful or a better person. What’s in the past is in the past. Do your best to move on, and employ the tactics listed in question 5 to help you deal with any extant pain from the betrayal.

What is Love?

Love cannot be put into words. It is only an indescribable feeling, incapable of being defined, yet so tangible and palpable it has, throughout history, made men, and ruined men. It is like a tornado. Quite evidently there, so ridiculously strong, yet possessing a structure that is incapable of being completely apprehended

How do you keep love alive?

You cannot keep love alive. It is a tornado, and as long as it is there it is so absolutely and completely enveloping, but when it is gone, it is gone, and there is nothing we can do to recreate or manufacture it.
